In Search Of The Perfect Boiled Egg
A couple weeks ago I picked up the cookbook "Salt Fat Acid Heat" from my library. This book is so inspiring, and I feel like I am really learning the science behind cooking instead of just simple recipes.
I fell in love with Samin Nostrat's work after picking up this book. I wholeheartedly recommend her Netflix show as well as her interview on the Tim Ferris podcast. So far, the only "recipe" I've used so far is the boiled egg recipe. (Lol)
The trick is to boil the water first, instead of bringing the eggs and the water to boil at the same time. Once the water starts boiling, gently add the eggs in and leave it for 8 minutes. Then take them out and roll them once on the counter to slightly crack them. Place them in a bowl of ice water for a couple of minutes, then peel.
I ate these "perfectly" boiled eggs on a bed of sauteed spinach and boiled carrots. I had some leftover salmon so I added that too.
My eggs turned out okay. I think because I have a conventional stove top, the eggs need less time boiling in water. Practice makes perfect!
Voila and Bon Appetit!
