An Easy Trick To Make Kale Salads Tastier

Kale is very nutritious, but most kale salads aren’t very enjoyable. They’re a bit chewy and hard to digest. After lots of complaining when I put kale salads on the dinner plate, it got me brainstorming ways to make it a bit better.

The trick? Well there are three. Not all need to happen, but when you do all three, it’s a game changer.

Trick no.1: Chop

This is the easiest step. The more you chop the kale, the less you have to chew it, and the more enjoyable it will be.

Trick no.2: Steam

This step is only for those who truly have an aversion for kale. It only takes a couple minutes and has a massive difference on the kale- while keeping all of the beneficial nutrients. The kale will shrink a lot, so if I choose to steam the kale, I do make sure to add some crunch back in with another chopped lettuce. I use romaine lettuce, spinach or cabbage.

Trick no.3 Massage

This step is so important! I like to do this all by hand (making sure I wash my hands thoroughly and clean under my nails). Add some olive oil, diced avocado, salt and lemon juice and work them into each other. Then let it hang out all together while you chop the rest of the veggies.

If you did try this out, please let me know, I’d love to hear if you liked (or didn’t like) it. :)
